We were tasked with creating a unique, hand-drawn promo for the NHL Stadium Series. It was a true collaboration of many styles, from 2D hand-drawn animation to 3D particle simulations. The final result is an explosive and fun promo!
process breakdown
The stadium was animated in 3D. Players were extracted from footage and 2D rotoscoped by hand. Crowd simulations and weather FX were added in last.
